Colonel Frances Gasson Ballentine, US Air Force, Ret., 94, of Wassamassaw, SC, died Thursday afternoon at the Village at Summerville.

Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Monday afternoon, November 13, 2017, in the Wassamassaw Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. The family will receive friends at the CHURCH from 12:30 PM until the hour of service on Monday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Wassamassaw Baptist Church, PO Box 926, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

COL Ballentine was born December 6, 1922, in Athol, MA, a daughter of Longinis Gasson, and Mary Bagdonis Gasson. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts, and her Masters of Science from Ohio State University. COL Ballentine was the Command Consultant Dietitian for the Air Force Logistics Command and was the Consultant in Dietetics in the Surgeon General's Office. She was a member of the American Dietetic Assoc., the Aerospace Medical Assoc., the Association of Military Surgeons, and the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions. After her retirement, she became very involved with roses and was an active member of the Rose Society. COL Ballentine was the widow of COL John W. Ballentine.

Surviving are, a nephew, Ray Taylor of Wassamassaw; two nieces, Faye P. Croft and Lois P. Cannon both of Wassamassaw; three great nephews, Chuck Croft of Mt. Pleasant, Michael Cannon of Charlotte, and Chad Taylor of Wassamassaw; a great niece, Julie C. Cole of Charleston; and a Goddaughter, Marietta Hicks of Moncks Corner.
